Cyclorama, Richard Neutra’s 1961 Lincoln Memorial At Gettysburg

This is the last post of Cyclorama photographs I will probably make until I return to Gettysburg later this Spring. This is a series of exterior shots using my infrared digital camera on a gray day in October, 2011. Unfortunately, the Cyclorama Building is becoming a modern architectural ruin as its fate continues to be in limbo. For more information regarding the building and its construction, please visit: Cyclorama, Richard Neutra’s 1961 Lincoln Memorial At Gettysburg.

Cyclorama, A Unique Perspective

I had the unique opportunity to take this short series of photographs. To see early photographs of the Cyclorama, visit: Cyclorama, Richard Neutra’s 1961 Lincoln Memorial At Gettysburg.

Reflections In the Windows, Gettysburg Cyclorama, Oct. 2011

Playing with the reflections and angles of the Cyclorama was great fun. As promised in a post a few days ago, I am posting this small collection. These are again infrared digital photos, it was a gray day and infrared with the help of some software gave me nice high contrast black and white photos. I probably will not print all of these, but only a select few.

Gettysburg Cyclorama in Infrared

I visited the Gettysburg Cyclorama last fall, 2011, and took a series of photographs with my  infrared digital camera. I used that camera because it was overcast and  infrared in black and white would give me a higher degree of contrast. I also played with reflections as you can see in this image. I will post a slide of show of these photographs at a later date when I get a chance to work with them some more.

Rusted Vehicles Series, No.1, 2008

As promised… here is a little slide show of “Rusted Vehicles”.

Panoramic Photo of Cyclorama Building, 2007

I believe I took this panoramic view of the Cyclorama Building in 2007. It was just before it was closed and on this visit to Gettysburg I wanted to get a good photograph of the structure. This is the east side, mid morning, so I had good light to my back. I returned later in the day to take one from the west side which I will post later.

Gettysburg Is Not Only A Battlefield

While exploring one of the lesser know areas of the Park, I came upon these old cars. From the markers, I was not sure if this was in or out of the National Park boundaries. Anyway, it was great fun photography. I will post more of these probably as a slide show shortly.

Cyclorama, March 2010

I photographed the Cyclorama briefly on my way south in March of 2010. At that time there was a temporary construction fence around the building since they were preparing to demolish the structure. In the interim the demolition was halted. To find out more about the building and status, you can go to Cyclorama, Richard Neutra’s 1961 Lincoln Memorial at Gettysburg.

The photographs were taken late in the afternoon. The panoramics are of multiple, hand held, shoots stitched together. I tried to photograph over the fence, but have included photos that do show that the fence was there.
